Congratulations to the 2026 National Cemetery Essay Contest winners, who were recognized during yesterday’s board meeting. Your meaningful work and commitment to honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation are truly inspiring.

We hope everyone has been enjoying their spring break and is completing their Spring Break Reading Challenge! Before break, we had a kick-off event to the Spring Reading Challenge titled "Reading will take you anywhere”. This was organized by our Parent Volunteer Coordinator, Valarie Leach. She asked Ed Waske, FAA, Certificated Airframe & Powerplant Technician who started the Carl Hopkins Aviation Expo at The Bridge and Justin Prickett, helicopter pilot with KAR Aviation, to come speak to the kids for the kick-off event.
Mrs. Leach said, “For me this started back in November during the National Education Week. My goal was to get as many different community members as I could to tell the kids about their various careers. That process encouraged me to help broaden the scope of possibilities to our kids at West Taylor. The world of Aviation is bigger than most people, and especially kids, can imagine. Both of these gentleman started their love of aviation as grade school kids. For them, RC model airplanes, books and seeing the planes/helicopters up close started a long and successful carrier in aviation. Our kids are fortunate that they have so many opportunities to pursue aviation at Pierpont and CKB airport at their our own back door! Our kids will have no idea the opportunities available to them unless we show/tell them.”

Thank you to our amazing PTO for the dip bar!
